Welcome to the OA Thorp Family!

I truly love coming to work every day. There is a unique spark here—a passion for learning that our teachers ignite and our students carry with them through the halls. Interestingly, my path to education wasn't a straight line. As a child, I was certain I’d become a lawyer, a computer programmer, or perhaps even a biologist. But during my senior year of high school, I had a realization: I looked at the incredible impact my own teachers had on my life and realized I wanted to pay that gift forward.

Today, after 25 years in the classroom and more than a decade as the principal of Thorp, my mission remains the same: to foster an environment where meaningful, purposeful learning happens every single day. In the words of John Taylor Gatto: "The primary goal of real education is not to deliver facts but to guide students to the truths that will allow them to take responsibility for their lives."

At Thorp, we don't just teach subjects; we empower students. I hope that our students find the truths here that will allow them to build a fulfilling life and better the world around them. I am so excited to partner with you and our dedicated teachers in this vital journey for your child.
