For the past 22 years, I have only taught at OA Thorp School. After starting my education program at UIC, I knew I wanted to work with second language learners. Spanish is my first language, and even though I struggled in primary years, knowing 2 languages opened up many opportunities for me in the education field. I was actually the former ESL/Bilingual coordinator for several years when I initially started at Thorp.
I am a mother of 4 adorable and active children: Eryen, Cyrus, Elyana, and Annalise. The Santos family had a fun summer taking our first trip to Cancun, Mexico and to Santa’s Village. Other fun times included enjoying Miko’s Italian ice and singing along to “Soda Pop.”
I look forward to getting to know my students and sharing many memories with them. I love working with this age group because first graders are unique individuals full of curiosity and knowledge!
