The Thorp Root Awakening Blooket Tournament
Dear Thorp Students in grades 3-8:
This is our first official weekly tournament! Some of you are really paying attention and trying the homework. Want to know a secret? Do the Study Mode in order to learn all of the questions. (Shh... don't tell anyone.) Homework lists will stay open until February 27th. All weekly winners will be able to participate in the final competition. The Final Battle will include words from all 200 Greek and Latin roots.
Here is what you are looking for. A new list will show up each Monday. Finalists will be selected from weekly grade level winners:

ATTENTION ALL THORP STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-8:
THE 6-WEEK SPRINT IS ON!
Do you like playing video games? Do you enjoy showing your skills off? Do you want the "cheat codes" so that you can look at any word and know exactly what it means even if you have never seen it before?
Starting this January 19th, I am launching the first ever THORP ROOT AWAKENING TOURNAMENT.
THE RULES:
- I will use Blooket to create video games to test your knowledge of the 100 most common Greek and Latin roots. (Some of you have already learned these - and you have an advantage; MOST of you have NOT.)
- MONDAY INTEL: On Monday you will get a link and a practice list of 30+ roots. Hit the Blooket Homework link to train all through Thursday.
- THE BATTLE: Every Friday, you will face your grade band in a live Blooket Battle Royale. The office will make an announcement and you will be able to compete against all of the players in your grade bands (3&4, 5&6, 7&8). Winners for each band will be recognized and given a gift certificate to restaurants in the area.
- THE TOURNAMENT: Top weekly scorers qualify for the Tournament of Champions at the end of February.
THE GRAND PRIZE: The overall winner of the school tournament will walk away with a $50 AMAZON GIFT CARD!

I will be holding a special pre-competition warm-up to practice and make sure everything works. You can click the link below to study. On Friday, after the Awards Assembly I will announce when our grade level battles will begin. It will last for 7-10 minutes and will be based on one of the Blooket Games, you will need a Chromebook and your ID# to play. You will need to log in to Blooket with Google using your CPS username. Your nickname are your initials and your ID# (ET12345678).

This tournament is completely voluntary. You need to practice on your own time. Can you practice at lunch? Sure! Can you practice at home? Sure! Can you practice while skateboarding? Probably not - but you can practice after you complete all of your classwork.
