Teacher Spotlight- Ms. Hitik!

My name is Ms. Hitik, a Diverse Learner teacher, who is now going into her twenty-sixth year teaching for CPS and third year here at the amazing Thorp Scholastic Academy.

I have not always lived in Chicago. As a young girl, at the age of 10, my parents had decided to move from New York City to the Windy City. I attended and graduated from both a CPS elementary and high school. I received my Bachelor’s in Special Education at Northeastern Illinois University and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University.

Growing up, I was turning my head in so many directions career-wise…..a police officer, a physical therapist, a clothing designer/buyer, a teacher….. Working as a volunteer at the Chicago Park District, with special needs children, my search stopped and my dream came true. I went back to school and the rest is history. I adore and love to teach and nurture the minds of children. The future is theirs and if I can make a difference in my students’ life, I have contributed to their future in a positive way.

I am married to a wonderful guy/best friend and have two loving, yet spoiled four paws, Joey and Buddy.
During my spare time, I enjoy getting together with family and friends, going to the theater, paddle boarding/swimming/boating, exploring new places, providing support at my church and quiet time.
