10.24.25 Thorpie Express

Thorpie Express

Thorp Families,

Monday October 27th is Report Card Pick-Up.  We look forward to meeting with you! Parent hours on this day are 12:00-3:00 and 4:00-6:00. You should have received parent communication about this from your child’s teacher. If all of the teacher’s times were full, please reach out to them so you can discuss your child’s progress.

Please stop by lost and found and pick up any missing items.  Everything not picked up by October 31st will be donated to the local shelter.

Today we had an unplanned fire emergency. Our alarms were triggered because we turned our heat on for the first time this season and our sensors needed to be adjusted.  The Fire Department did visit the school and confirmed that the school was safe.  The staff and students did a fantastic job evacuating the school quickly.

International Day:

"Are you part of an Irish or Latin Dance Company? Do you play a unique world instrument like the Cuatro Guitar or Dholak drum? Are you able to recite a poem in a different language? Can you create or display a piece of artwork unique to a country? Have you cooked foods such as pierogi, tamales, or dumplings? Consider auditioning for Thorp's 3rd annual International Day Assembly! We are looking for performers and presenters to share and celebrate diverse cultures, talents, and art forms from around the world! Please fill out the following Google Form (also posted on Music Standards Google Classrooms)."

Friends of Thorp Monthly Meeting - Join Us!

Our next Friends of Thorp meeting of the school year will be Thursday, November 6 at 7 PM at Vaughan’s Pub and Grill - 5485 N Northwest Highway.  Please let us know if you are able to attend so we can reserve enough space. We hope to see you there!

PTA:

All students will receive Scholastic preview fliers via backpack mail.  The fliers contain a QR code that will direct you to a spot on the Scholastic site where you can create an eWallet in advance of their fair visit next week. An eWallet is far and away the easiest way to pay for purchases, though students may also pay with cash, credit cards and Apple Pay. Please let your student know how much their book fair budget is!

When you create your students’ eWallet, please be sure to search for and select OA Thorp Scholastic Academy as there are two CPS schools with Thorp in their name.

You can view the classroom visit schedule for the fair here:  https://tinyurl.com/yjcdtyrm

We can always use more parent volunteers to help staff the Book Fair!  Sign up here:  https://tinyurl.com/ypsnn348

Please let us know if you’ve got any questions!
