Dear Thorp Families,

It is the last week of the 2024-25 school year; and what a wonderful year it has been! Your children have grown and accomplished so much this year. From our grade level performances, to our hands-on science experiments, sporting championships, school musicals, after school Mariachi, talent shows and so much more; we hope that your child had the opportunity to shine.

We also want to recognize someone who has become a very important member of our Thorp family - Ms. De’Andrea Bell. She just finished her first year at Thorp and we are so happy to have her with us. Ms. Bell was recently highlighted on the CPS Take 5 Page!

This year we finally installed our auditorium seats and thanks to our Friends of Thorp - our lights and sound for student performances have never been better! Just take a look at the Thorp Talent Show!

Congratulations to Anais L. and Mr. Coughlin. Anais is a National History Day Finalist and Mr. Coughlin has been nominated as the NHD Teacher of the Year. Anais will participate in the NHD Convention in Washington D.C.

On Wednesday we will share our School Improvement Plan (Continuous Improvement Working Plan) for the 2025-26 school year. Please feel free to join us for our LSC Meeting in our library at 7:30AM on Wednesday 6/11. You may also join us online by going to oathorpacademy.org/lscmeeting

We have two big changes for the next school year. First, we will encourage all students and parent to arrive a little each morning so that you can participate in our before school recess! Students are expected to be at school by 7:30AM but classes will start at 7:40AM.

Second, we are introducing a low-cost line of Thorp Wear to encourage all families to buy their Thorp-branded T-Shirts, sweatpants and hoodies! Thorp wear will be required for our PE classes, but it is always a good day to represent our school. A link will be sent out to parents where you can order and deliveries will be made at the start of school in August.

Our yearbook will be sold on Amazon! We are switching publishers to ensure that you will be able to purchase your copy online and it will be shipped to your home. More information will be sent out soon.

Please ensure all of your fees have been paid especially if your child is graduating or if you are moving. All CPS fees need to be paid before records are released.

Report cards, along with students' end-of-year STAR360 and iReady assessments, will be sent home with students this Thursday. We were very happy with our Reading and Math results this year.

Please drop by our main entrance to check out our Lost and Found. We have many items - that you have probably been looking for.

Registration for Funstiute and Kick Off to Kindergarten has closed. Emails were sent out to all families who were able to get in. The dates are Monday, July 7th- Friday, July 25th. Hours will be 9:00-2:00PM. There are no before or after care options.

If your child will transferring next year and you have not let us know, please fill out our Intent to Transfer Form. This will also help us offer seats to families on the waiting list. Thank you so much for your help!

We are looking forward to a great final week. We have quite a few activities to end the year. Please take a look at our calendar.

Finally, Congratulations to our Class of 2025. They will graduate on Friday 6/13. We are so proud of our graduates. Check out where they will be going to high school.

Have a wonderful last week of school!

Efren Toledo
