Thorp Families,

Thank you to all of the parents who joined us at the 5-6th grade Cross Curricular Extravaganza today. Congratulations to all the 5-6th Grade teachers and students for putting together such wonderful displays, activities, and performances.  Everyone truly enjoyed all of your activities and events!

Parents please fill out the 4th quarter Communications Survey linked below.

Drop-off and Dismissal Procedures

Parents, please be aware that our school buses use Warwick Ave., so it is crucial to avoid the area during pick-up and drop-off times. We have had several school buses that have been stuck because they are blocked in by other cars. Only students from our Cluster program with approved passes are allowed to enter Warwick Ave for student drop-offs and pick-ups.

Parents please do not park or pull off to the side to drop off students. Once cars stop, due to the traffic light on Grace; please let your child out so they may walk into the school. You do not have to wait until you get to the gates to drop off your child. We have entrances on both playgrounds. If you wish to walk your child to the door, please find parking on Waveland or Byron. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at [email protected].

Dress Code Policy

With the warmer weather we want to remind everyone of our dress code policy found in our Student Handbook.

DRESS CODE

At Thorp our dress code is gender neutral. We are preparing students for success in high school, college and the workplace. We ask students to dress in a manner that promotes a productive learning environment.  The following figure demonstrates what parts of the body need to be covered at all times:

  • Shorts and skirts must come to mid-thigh
  • Shirts must cover shoulders and the mid-section of the body as illustrated.
  •
  • The following items are NEVER allowed:
  • Any clothing that has suggestive, abusive, inappropriate language or designs
  • Slippers, flip flops, or shoes without backs as this is a safety concern when running on the school grounds or participating in Gym
  • Any clothing that exposes undergarments or (see through shirts, baggy pants, etc.)
  • Clothing that exposes the midriff
  •

Your cooperation with our policies would be greatly appreciated.

Birthday Books

If your child has had a recent spring birthday, please make sure they stop by the office to get their birthday token for the book vending machine!

Little Free Library

Our Little Free Library needs your help to thrive! While many families enjoy taking books home, fewer books are returned or replaced. Remember, the magic of our little library works on a simple principle: take a book, leave a book. Next time you do spring cleaning, please consider donating gently-used children's books your family has outgrown so everyone can discover new adventures and our library remains well-stocked for all to enjoy.
