Note-Taking Sheets Due: Thursday February 23rd
4 Poster Parts Due: Tuesday March 7th
For the next week I would like you to read, research, and become an expert on your endangered species! I have given you several websites and sources to help you with this (see post in Classroom Extras). As you are reading please neatly complete your note taking sheets. This will certainly help you create an amazing poster. ☺️
Your poster will need to include these 4 parts:
Part 1
Figurative Language Poems (25 Points)
At home you will create two illustrated figurative language poems. One poem will focus on the animals appearance and the other poem will focus on the animals habitat. In class we will create a sample poem together.
I will give you a hard copy organizer to help you with brainstorm writing your poem. The poetry paper for your final draft poems is attached. Please print the poetry paper and be sure to write your final poems in your neatest handwriting. If you do not have access to a printer, no worries I can provide this paper for you.
Update: The class example poem has been attached below. Please remember to have a parent check your work before creating the final. You may use colored pencils. :)
Part 2
Animal Infographic (15 Points)
At home you will create your digital infographic. The template is attached (as well as an example). Please print your completed work. If you do not have access to a printer, no worries I can print this for you as well however, it will not be in color (this isn't quite as nice but we will make it work).
Part 3
Opinion Essay- “Why the _______________ Needs to be Saved !" (45 Points)
(your endangered species)
At school you will write your essay.
Part 4
Hand Drawn Animal Illustration (10 Points)
At school (in art class) you will create your illustration.
The completed 4 pieces will make up your poster. I will provide you with the poster and in class you will put the poster together.
Please note:
We have changed the project format this year so there may be some changes that need to be made along the way. We definitely will be flexible with the due dates if any major changes are made.
Please let me know if you have any questions! I am super excited to see your final posters!

Hello all!
You will be completing a research project on an endangered species. In class next week we will go over all the project parts and expectations together.
I have attached a link that will help you with selecting your endangered species. I would like you to fill out the Google Form with a list of five animals that you are interested in (that are either critically endangered, endangered, or vulnerable). Please have your list completed by Monday morning, 2/13. In class we will pull number sticks to see which of your five choices you will be assigned. This should help us to learn and study 29 different animals.
*Remember: do not pick the Mountain Gorilla*
Happy researching!

Holiday Classroom Door Contest!
Our class has chosen a Gingerbread House theme for the Holiday Classroom Door Contest!
In class we will be creating the gingerbread house and people. Over the weekend please neatly complete your candy pieces by coloring them with crayon, colored pencils, marker, paint, etc. You may also be creative and add extras like glitter, sequins, pom poms... whatever you like to help make your candy pieces look perfectly yummy! Please place the pieces in the baggie they were sent home in after you have cut them out and written your name on them.
I know these are busy times, so please no worries if you can not complete all or any over the weekend.
Thank you!
Mrs. Delgado :)
