About Me
I am Mrs. Santos, first grade teacher in Room 109. Welcome first grade families to another exciting school year! I can't believe how fast the years go by... this is my 20th year at OA Thorp School. After starting my education program at UIC, I knew I wanted to work with second language learners. Spanish is my first language, and even though I struggled in my primary grade years, knowing 2 languages opened up many opportunities for me in the education field. I was actually the former ESL/Bilingual coordinator for several years when I first started at Thorp School. I am the mother of 4 adorable and active children: Eryen, Cyrus, Elyana, and Annalise. They are learning 3 languages: English, Spanish, and Tagalog. This summer my boys attended Funstitute, and the Santos family visited Disney World for the first time! I look forward to meeting all of my students and sharing many memories with them. I love working with this age group because first graders are unique individuals full of curiosity and knowledge!
